What is areola pigmentation?
Areola pigmentation is a medical micropigmentation technique that reconstructs an areola in an extremely realistic way. Using a 3D pigmentation technique, the specialist creates the optical presence of an areola — with natural colour variations, shadow and depth.
How does the treatment work?
1.5 to 2 hours. For unilateral pigmentation, the specialist copies the existing side. For bilateral pigmentation, you discuss the ideal shape together. The treatment is virtually painless: after breast reconstruction, the treated area is usually numb.
Who is it for?
- Women after breast reconstruction following breast cancer
- Men after breast surgery (gynecomastia)
- Asymmetrical or overly pale areolas
- After reduction or augmentation
Realistic?
The 3D technique at Carpe Clinic uses multiple pigment layers and colour shades that mimic natural anatomy. The result looks realistic even up close.
