What is the erbium fractional laser?
The erbium fractional laser works on the same principle as the CO2 version, but with a shorter wavelength. It is absorbed more precisely by water in the skin, so less heat reaches the surrounding tissue and recovery is gentler: 2 to 5 days instead of 7 to 14.
How does the treatment work?
The session takes 30 to 45 minutes. Numbing cream is left on for 30 minutes. You feel warmth and a light prickling, gentler than with the CO2 version. Usually 2 to 4 sessions, 4 to 6 weeks apart.
Who is it for?
For fine lines, superficial pigmentation or uneven skin texture, with recovery limited to 2 to 5 days. Suitable for light to medium skin types and safe around the eyes.
