About this treatment
What is a labiaplasty?
A labiaplasty is a surgical correction of the inner labia. In some women these are enlarged or asymmetrical, which can cause physical discomfort.
What does the procedure involve?
There are two techniques: the trim technique (removing excess tissue along the edge) and the wedge resection (removing a V-shaped section while preserving the natural edge). The procedure takes place under local anaesthesia with sedation and lasts 45 to 90 minutes; the sutures are dissolvable.
Recovery and who it suits
Recovery takes 2 to 4 weeks; intensive sport and intimate contact wait 4 to 6 weeks. The procedure suits women with functional or aesthetic discomfort from enlarged or asymmetrical labia. It is not advised during an active infection or pregnancy.
Labiaplasty is part of our aesthetic gynaecology range.
