What is Profhilo and how does it differ from a classic filler?
Profhilo is a biostimulator based on pure hyaluronic acid with the highest concentration on the market: 64 mg per 2 ml. Unlike traditional hyaluronic acid fillers, Profhilo does not add volume in a specific spot. The product spreads as a thin layer under the skin and stimulates the natural production of 4 types of collagen and 1 type of elastin. The result is not filling, but an overall improvement in skin quality, firmer, more elastic, better hydrated.
How does the Profhilo treatment work at Carpe Clinic?
The doctor injects Profhilo using the BAP technique (Bio Aesthetic Points): 5 strategically determined injection points per side of the face. Each point is chosen based on the natural spread of the product through the skin. Thanks to the high concentration and the unique formulation, the hyaluronic acid spreads evenly from these points and reaches a large surface.
The session takes just 15 to 20 minutes. After the injections, small bumps may be visible at the injection points, they disappear within a few hours.
How many sessions are needed and when will I see results?
The standard protocol consists of 2 sessions at a 4-week interval. After the first session, many patients already notice improved hydration and glow. The full effect, including the collagen stimulation, is visible 4 to 8 weeks after the second session. A maintenance treatment is recommended after 6 months to maintain the result.
Which areas are particularly suitable for Profhilo?
Profhilo is excellently suited for areas where the skin is thinner and fillers work less well: face, neck and décolleté. For body areas such as arms, abdomen and knees there is a specific variant: Profhilo Body, with a higher concentration adapted to the thicker skin of the body.
Can I combine Profhilo with other treatments?
Profhilo is the quintessential treatment to combine with other injectables. Many patients at Carpe Clinic choose Profhilo as a base treatment for skin quality, complemented with muscle relaxants for dynamic wrinkles and hyaluronic acid fillers for targeted volume restoration.
The doctor draws up a personalised treatment plan during a free injectables consultation.
What are the contraindications for Profhilo?
Profhilo is not suitable during pregnancy, breastfeeding or with a known allergy to hyaluronic acid. Active skin infections in the treatment area are also a contraindication. Because Profhilo contains a substance naturally present in the body, allergic reactions are extremely rare.
